Thanksgiving Volunteering

Sign up today to serve the less fortunate this Holiday Season.  You and your colleagues can work together to make preparations for Thanksgiving at Cedar House.  Choose from one of the following dates and email mhughes@cedarhouse.org to schedule your volunteer time.

Arrowhead Credit Union Ice Cream Social

The friendly volunteers from Arrowhead Credit Union surprised our Maple House Women and Children with some delicious ice cream sundaes on the afternoon of October 20.  We are so grateful for the kindness this group continues to show our clients!

Employee of the Quarter

Congratulations to Vera Monarrez for being selected as Cedar House's Employee of the Quarter!  As our Recovery Residence Coordinator, Vera is a well-respected, hard-working member of our staff, and we are happy to recognize her efforts as Employee of the Quarter.

The Community Foundation Grants Cedar House $10,000

We are pleased to announce that Cedar House is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from The Community Foundation, Strengthening Inland Southern California Through Philanthropy, for our Maple House Women with Children Program to support alcohol and drug abuse recovery.

Halloween at Cedar House

Halloween means fun times at Cedar House, complete with a costume contest.  This year's winners were:

3rd place - Esmeralda Sandoval

Cedar House Golf Classic

Our 2nd Annual Cedar House Golf Classic was a success thanks to our sponsors, volunteers and a very generous group of golfers helping us raise a net profit of $10,000.  With a fun atmosphere plus a nice mix of contests, prizes, food, drinks and auction items, everyone had a great day and supported a wonderful cause. 

Recovery Happens

September is Recovery Month, and Cedar House got involved in the celebration at Recovery Happens in Riverside on September 14 and in San Bernardino on September 29.  

Homeboy Industries 5K

Several members of the Cedar House staff and their families participated in the Homeboy Industries 5K on Saturday, September 22 in Los Angeles.  

Oasis House Volunteers

Volunteers from UPS and Burning Bush Church worked alongside Cedar House staff, board members and clients to get ready to welcome more Transitional Age Youth to Oasis House.  

$10,000 Grant from The UPS Foundation

Thank you to the UPS Foundation for granting $10,000 to Oasis House in the High Desert for the 2018-19 year.

Arrowhead Credit Union Donates to Maple House

 Thanks to James Gordon and his team at Arrowhead Credit Union for donating more than $300 of hygiene items and toys to the women and children of Maple House.  

Lobby Ribbon Cutting

On September 12, we showed our gratitude to Ken Hardy and the Southern California Grocery Division of McLane Company for their contributions toward refurbishing our lobby with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

Arrowhead United Way Grant

Arrowhead United Way (AUW) announced this week that Cedar House will once again be the recipient of grant funds for their 2018-19 cycle. Thanks to AUW for their generous contribution of $5,075 to Cedar House in the upcoming year. 

Coffee with Assemblymember Eloise Reyes

On Friday, June 29, Assemblymember Eloise Gomez Reyes joined us at Cedar House for coffee and conversation about policies and programs in her congressional district.

Legal Aid Society Partnership

We are pleased to announce that Cedar House's medical team has established a legal partnership with the Legal Aid Society. We are looking forward to developing our relationship with this new collaboration. 

Alumni Day In the News

We celebrated our graduates and 45 years of service in the community on May 19 with a fun day  at Cedar House  filled with speakers, games, food, entertainment and prizes.

Cedar House Honored as Nonprofit of the Year

 The Honorable Eloise Gomez-Reyes recognized Cedar House Life Change Center as an honoree at the 47th Assembly District Non-Profit of the Year Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 26, and presented a Certificate of Recognition to CEO Jamie Lamb and COO Daniel Chagolla.

Community Volunteers Help Prepare Thanksgiving Feast

We are so grateful for the many volunteers from our community who came to Cedar House with willing hearts to help our kitchen staff prepare a delicious Thanksgiving feast for everyone here at Cedar House.  Representatives from Back Safe, BBSI, McLane, Law Offices of Michael Scafiddi, United Agencies and UPS volunteered to make this year's dinner a success.  

Jamie Lamb Celebrates Anniversary with Cedar House

One year ago on October 25, Cedar House was blessed with the addition of Jamie Lamb as Chief Executive Officer. Looking back at the past year, it is clear that Lamb has made a powerful impact on the organization.

Financial Literacy Course

Cedar House is partnering with Wells Fargo to provide a Financial Literacy Course for our clients. Classes will take place on Thursdays once a month from 1-2:30 p.m. and will cover the basics of financial planning with an emphasis on personal budgeting.

Halloween Fun at Cedar House

Our staff, clients, families and friends celebrated Halloween with Trick or Treating at Cedar House. In the festive, decorated halls of our main facility, all ages enjoyed the day with costumes and candy!

Arrowhead United Way CEO Presents Grant Funds to Cedar House Board of Directors

President/CEO Doug Rowand presented our Board of Directors with grant funds at their last meeting.

Arrowhead United Way Grant

Cedar House is pleased to announce that we have received $10,160.50 in grant funds from Arrowhead United Way. These funds will support the Maple House Women and Children Program.

Cedar House Family Picnic

Cedar House families came together on Saturday, October 14 for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Food, games and prizes made it a nice gathering for all our families to enjoy.

Cedar House Angels Golf Classic

On Monday, October 9, Cedar House supporters gathered at Candlewood Country Club in Whittier, California, for a beautiful day on the golf course. Our Cedar House Angels organized a fun, profitable event, and all proceeds went directly to our Maple House Women with Children program.

COO Daniel Chagolla Elected to CCAPP Board

Congratulations to our Chief Operations Officer, Daniel Chagolla, for his election to the 2017 California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals Board. Chagolla is honored to serve as a Program Member on this prestigious board.

NEW Aftercare Group

Cedar House is now offering a FREE Aftercare Group twice a month for graduates of various treatment programs to discuss life after treatment and ways Cedar House can help clients continue on the right path after recovery.
