Full/Part Time: This is a full-time position 

At-Will Status: This is an At-Will position meaning that either the employer or employee may terminate the employment relationship at their pleasure. 

Reports To: CEO 


MISSION STATEMENT 

Social Science Services (SSS) Inc., dba Cedar House Life Change Center (CHLCC) is dedicated to improving the lives of those suffering from chemical dependency by providing high quality, evidence-based therapeutic clinical treatment services with a full a continuum of care while educating and engaging the community through open communication and outreach activities. What started as a small 12-bed alcohol treatment facility for men in 1973, named “Amigo House”, is now a multi-facility, treatment and housing organization providing a full continuum of services dedicated to assist all adults in overcoming the challenges of chemical dependence in order to create “A Total Life Change.” CHLCC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation centrally located to serve the Inland Empire and is Medi-cal certified. In an effort to match the needs of the culturally diverse population served, CHLCC employs a culturally diverse staff of highly skilled professionals. All of CHLCC’s programs are licensed by the State of California Department of Health Care Services.  


DUTIES STATEMENT 

The Controller is responsible to maximize return on SSS, Inc. financial assets by assisting in the establishing and implementation of financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position will oversee finance department, implement and maintain accounting systems and ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. The Controller will act as liaison between the company, government, client and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained and exchanged in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Guides financial decisions by assisting leadership in establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. 
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. 
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors. 
  • Prepares budgets (internal and as required by contracts) and by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans. 
  • Establishes cost allocations across programs and ensuring back up documentation as required 
  • Prepares monthly/annual cost reports for reconciling with grants and contracts 
  • Assists in preparation of applicable Applications in response to government Notice of Funding Announcement (NOFAs) Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Requests for Applications (RFAs) 
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. 
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data. 
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. 
  • Oversees all billing to ensure accuracy and compliance. 
  • Provides monthly cost reports and adheres to all county and other contract requirements. 
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions. 
  • Attendance to all necessary county meetings. 
  • Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. 
  • Responsible to lead finance department: hiring, firing, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. 
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. 
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential except where required to divulge specific information 
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and directed by your supervisor
