JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Client Care Specialist 

Non-Exempt/Exempt Status: This is a non-exempt position 

Full Time/Part Time: This is a full-time position.

At-Will Status: This is an At-Will position meaning that either the employer or employee may terminate the employment relationship at their pleasure.

Reports To: Client Care Supervisor 


MISSION STATEMENT

Social Science Services (SSS) Inc., dba Cedar House Life Change Center (CHLCC) is dedicated to improving the lives of those suffering from chemical dependency by providing high quality, evidence-based therapeutic clinical treatment services with a full a continuum of care while educating and engaging the community through open communication and outreach activities. What started as a small 12-bed alcohol treatment facility for men in 1973, named “Amigo House”, is now a multi-facility, treatment and housing organization providing a full continuum of services dedicated to assist all adults in overcoming the challenges of chemical dependence in order to create “A Total Life Change.” CHLCC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation centrally located to serve the Inland Empire and is Medi-cal certified. In an effort to match the needs of the culturally diverse population served, CHLCC employs a culturally diverse staff of highly skilled professionals. All of CHLCC’s programs are licensed by the State of California Department of Health Care Services.  


DUTY STATEMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist clients in the intake procedures, review program rules and expectations.
  • Will manage bed assignments
  • Will maintain documentation in charts, log books and data sheets.
  • Will make medications available to indicated clients when required.
  • Will receive briefing from prior shift personnel on recent developments.
  • Will observe and report client behavior to supervisor and document in log books.
  • Ensure clients attend all meetings and groups if physically able.
  • Make rounds of Cedar House compound and rooms at least hourly with staggered      timing.
  • Will become knowledgeable of Confidentiality laws, policies and procedures.
  • Answer telephones and become knowledgeable with referral procedures.
  • Input client data into computer data system as directed by the Admission      Coordinator and/or Client Care Supervisor.
  • Will monitor and record vitals of detoxing clients as instructed.
  • Will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned or required.


STAFF MANAGEMENT

This position does not manage staff.


FINANCE/CONTRACTS MANAGEMENT

Not applicable.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Will have an understanding of the nature of alcohol/drug addiction and recovery      process.
  • Will have completed twelve years of education or have GED.
  • Will agree to enroll and complete a drug studies certificate program.
  • Will have 5 years to become certified or 6 months from time of hire to become      registered.
  • Must have the ability to address stressful situations in a calm manner and be able to communicate in a positive way.
  • Will maintain current Adult CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Will maintain current certification and/or registration with CAADE or CCAPP.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • If in recovery must have at least 2 years continuous sobriety.
  • Resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
